Waiheke Island is located 17.7kms east of Auckland in the Hauraki Gulf, in the North Island of New Zealand
Getting here is simple, either a 35 minute passenger ferry trip from Downtown Auckland, or a 45 minute vehicle ferry trip from Half Moon Bay. Air Services and private sea taxis are also available.
The Island is 92 square kms. If you are driving it will take approximately 40 minutes to get from one side of the island to the other.
Transport options include regular bus service and taxis, alternatively cars, scooter and bicycles are also available for hire. There is also the hop-on-hop-off bus service by Fullers with two options, the Western and Eastern Explorer allowing you to visit some of the harder to get to venues on the island.
The beaches are safe and in most cases, child-friendly. However there are no life guards on duty at any of our beaches, you need to keep an eye on your family and stay safe. Don't forget your sunblock!
